Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are the latest devices of Moto G series by Lenovo. The mega launch event of these devices were held in New Dehli. Moto G4 and G4 Plus top of the line features include 5.5 inch display of 1080p, and this is the major improvement we see when compared it with last year’s models. Both G4 and G4 Plus are powered by Octacore Snapdragon 617 processor. G4 comes in only 2Gb RAM model but G4 Plus has a two variants with slight changes in RAM sizes (2gigs and 3gigs).
Some main features of G4 Plus variant like fingerprint scanner and better camera support makes it distinguish with G4. And if we talk about all other things like internals or externals, so it’s almost same in both the models. On the software side, both the Moto G4 variants comes with latest Android 6.0.1. There are no dramatic changes in the user experience as its quite similar to stock Android, just like you get on Nexus device. But few additional features have been added to enhance the user experience like twist to open camera feature, moto display, and double chop to trigger flashlight.

Warning: Bootloader unlocking will void your device’s warranty and all your data will also wipe.

How To Unlock Bootloader of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus
Step 1. Browse Motorola website, scroll down to bottom of page and press Next Button. Then Sign-up or use the credentials to Sign-in if you already have an account.
Step 2. Now go to Settings app >> then About Phone.
Step 3. Tap Build number 7 times to unlock the Developer options on your device.
Step 4. Go back to Settings app >> then Developer Options and enable these options ‘Allow OEM Unlock’, ‘Android debugging’.
Step 5. Make sure that the USB drivers and ADB Fastboot is installed on your PC. Then use the stock USB cable to connect your device to your PC.
Step 6. Push the below command code via Minimal ADB and Fastboot window:
adb reboot bootloader
Step 7. The above command will boot your device into bootloader mode. Now push the following command code.
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
Above command will return the output as shown below:
$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
On Mac it would return the output as shown below:
Step 8. Combine the 5 lines of output into one continuous string (remove the (bootloader) or ‘INFO’ or spaces. The string should look like this:
Step 9. Now copy the above string and then paste it at Motorola’s website in the box which says “Canmy device be unlocked”. Hit the button, if the device bootloader is unlockable then you should see a “Request Unlock Key” button.
Step 10. Click on the “Request Unlock Key” button, it will send the unlock key via email.
Step 11. Check your email for the unlock key, once you receive the unlock key, push the command shown below on Minimal ADB and Fastboot window:
fastboot oem unlock <code>
Here replace the <code> with the unlock key which you have received in your email. This step will unlock the device bootloader and will also wipe all the device data including the internal storage.
Step 12. Now for few minutes for your device to reboot.
Congrats! You have successfully unlocked the bootloader of your Moto G4 / Moto G4 Plus. Now you can easily root or install TWRP on your Moto G4/G4 Plus.
