Now you can update your Galaxy S6 to the latest G920VVRU4CPF4 and Galaxy S6 Edge to the G925VVRU4CPH1 builds. These updates are being rolling out to secure your Gaalxy S6/S6 Edge against some vulnerabilities. If you have not received the OTA yet, you can download the full firmware from the link given below.   • Firmware file download link is given above, get the firmware file and unzip the zip it to get the original file with .tar.md5 extension.
  • Download the Odin 3.10.7 tool and unzip the zip file on your desktop. Java version of Odin is available for Mac users.
  • Download and Install the latest Samsung USB Drivers or Kies software on your PC. You can skip this step if the drivers already installed on your PC.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your Verizon Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. To do this, open phone Settings >> Developers options >> Enable USB Debugging.
  • Installing stock firmware may not delete device data or installed apps, but it’s a good practice to perform a full backup device data, for the safe side.
  • Make sure your phone battery is charged up to 70% or more.

How to Install Security Patch Firmware on Verizon Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge

After preparing your device according to the steps mentioned above along with the downloaded firmware file, you’re ready to install firmware on your device. Simply follow the easy steps given below:

1. Open the extracted folder and lunch Odin 3.10.7.exe as an administrator.

2. Power off your Verizon Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and get into the Download mode by simply pressing and holding the following keys altogether for few seconds:

  • Volume Down + Home + Power

3. Within few seconds a warning message will appears on the mobile screen, now release the keys and then press the Volume Up key to get into the Download Mode.

4. Use the USB cable that came with your device to connect it with your PC.

5. When the device is detected by Odin, ID:COM port on Odin will turn blue and you’ll get a “Added!” in Odin’s message box.

6. In the Options tab of Odin select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options, uncheck everything else.

7. Click AP button in Odin and browse the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.

8. Hit the Start button to proceed the firmware update.

9. Wait for few moment as it takes time to complete the firmware installation process.

10. A PASS! notification on Odin will appear, indicating the firmware was successfully flashed.

Next, the device will reboot automatically.

Congrats! You have successfully completed all the steps. The first boot will take longer than usual so be patient until device reboots and gets ready for use.

In you observe an abnormal behavior and your device does not get past the Verizon splash screen even after waiting for more than 10 minutes, then you must perform a data factory reset through stock recovery.
