2016 is the year of Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. After the huge popularity of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge last year, Samsung has finally released the S7 device of its popular S series with some slight changes and new features. And if we compare both Galaxy S7 and the Edge variant with their predecessors we observe some minor changes.

Galaxy series is already well known for its best camera in the smartphone world, S7 comes with a new and more improved camera setup. Both S7 variants have the expendable storage option. The screen size of Edge variant is bigger with the quadHD resolution. In both variants there is also a bump in battery capacities as compared to its predecessors.

On the software front end side of Galaxy S7 models the TouchwizUI has been improved to a great extent. But some bloatware are still there to annoy you. In this guide we will learn how to root Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge using Chainfire’s Auto-Root method. This method is the easiest way to root your Galaxy device, what you need is just a PC and within few minutes you will be able to enjoy root access on your Galaxy S7. How To Root Galaxy S7 (G930F) and S7 Edge (G935F) via CF-Auto-Root

Step 1. There is a download link given above of Samsung USB drivers, follow the link to download drivers on your PC and then install them.

Step 2. Pick the right CF-Auto-Root.zip from the download section above for your S7 variant and download it on your PC. By using any unzipping tool extract the zip file. After extracting the zip file you will get a file like (CF-Auto-Root-herolte-heroltexx-smg930f.tar.md5 or CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.tar.md5).

Step 3. Now double-click on Odin3 v3.10.6.exe file, to launch the Odin window.

Step 4. Now its time to set up your Galaxy S7, open Settings >> Application >> Developer Option >> enable the OEM Unlock. (If the developer options is not enabled by default then you have to tap Build Number multiple times, you can find Build Number under Settings >> About Phone)

Step 5. Next, bypass the normal boot mode and boot your device into Download mode. To boot your S7 into download mode first power it off completely then press and hold these hardware key combination at the same time just for few seconds (Volume Down + Home + Power). Now you will receive a warning message on your S7 prompting that your device is about to enter into download mode, press the Volume Up key to accept the warning message next your S7 will boot into Download Mode.

Step 6. Use the USB cable comes with your S7 to connect your S7 to PC port. Once your device connected via USB cable you will receive a Added message in the Odin log section and you will also notice a blue button.

Step 7. To select the downloaded firmware file press the AP button in Odin and then browse the location where you have extracted the firmware file. (CF-Auto-Root-herolte-heroltexx-smg930f.tar.md5 or CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.tar.md5)

Step 8. Now hit the Start button on Odin and just wait for flashing process to finish. Once the flashing process completed successfully your device would automatically reboot.

Note: After flashing the device with ODIN, you device will only display the S7 logo and it may seem like nothing has happened. This is because CFAR’s display code is not yet compatible with S7. Don’t do anything and just simply leave the device for few minutes. During this time your device will reboot a few times and then boot into Android and you will have root.

Your Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge is finally rooted successfully. Congrats!
