We all know this fact that Nexus devices are the lucky one to receive all the latest Android updates and this time also there will be no difference. Nexus devices get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update on August 22 — The official launching day if Android 7.0.

But what do you think about other OEMs like LG, HTC, Xiaomi, Samsung? When will they receive the Nougat Update?

In this article, we’ve tried to brainstorm on when other OEMs will get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update and which lucky models will get it first.

Nexus Devices

Nexus smartphones are always the lucky ones when it comes to getting latest updates and the main reason is that they are built in Google specification so it’s obvious that Google have full control over their software.

List of the Nexus smartphones which will receive Android 7.0 Nougat update:

  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6P,  6
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus Player
  • Android One

If you observe closely you will notice one thing that few devices are missing from this list like Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013. Unfortunately these devices are not updated to Android N. Google announced that they will only push the software updates for those devices which have been launched in last 2 years. But they also said that they will keep provide the security patches and bug fixes for as long as they can. But don’t get disappointed, if you’re using Nexus 5 or Nexus 7, soon you will be able to enjoy it via custom ROM as soon as Google puts the code for Android 7.0.

Normally all the Motorola devices are stock Android so they received the latest update really quick.

Motorola smartphones which might be updated to Android Nougat:

  • Moto Z (All Variants)
  • Moto G4, G4+
  • Moto X Play, X Style

We hope that Moto G 3rd Gen devices will also received the Android 7.0 update but we can’t say it for sure because Motorola has once promised to deliver the updates but failed. Since Lenovo acquired Motorola we really don’t know what going to happen in the future. But we expect that these devices will receive the update within 60 days after Google makes the code available.

HTC has already announced the name of devices which will get Nougat updates:

  • HTC 10
  • HTC One M9
  • HTC One A9

But the updates will be available for the above devices within 60 days after Google makes the code available. HTC’s higer end Desire model are also in the queue to receive Android 7.0 update but there is no confirm news that which one will get the update first. Some rumors are circulating that HTC is working on 2 Nexus devices for 2016, if it’s true then they have plenty of time to modify Android N code and fix bugs and hurdles if there are any.

According to the LG, its LG V20 will be the first device running Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. LG has already announced the launched date of LG V20, September 6, 2016. LG G5 will be the next device after V20 to get the Nougat update. Hopefully it will receive the Android Nougat update in the 3rd quarter of 2016. LG G4 and V10 are also expected to receive the Android N update but there are chances that LG will drop this decision. The reason might be the limited release of LG V10 while LG G4 was one of those devices which LG messed up as it had so many hardware and software issues. Beside this, some low-end devices may also get Android N update.

Samsung already captured maximum share of smart phones market by selling highest number of both high and low end Android smartphones so it’s obvious that most of the Samsung devices will be updated to Android N:

List of Samsung devices which will surely get an update to Android 7.0 Nougat:

  • Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+
  • Galaxy Note5, Note 7
  • Galaxy S7, S7 Edge

After analyzing the Samsung’s log of rolling out Marshmallow, it’s not difficult to predict that Samsung Galaxy S7 and Note 7 will get the Android N in February 2017. And the reset of the devices will get the update after that.

Huawei has a good future they are trying their best to deliver the devices users want. It’s not that easy for them to compete their competitors, but they can do easily by delivering the best hardware and quick updates. They are in this business since long time and they know the tricks to success. To fulfill the needs of users they always get feedback from them so they can make products according to their perceptions of what the public will like and that’s how they are making themselves a success. Providing the prompt software updates is also a part of this.

List of Huawei devices which will sure shot get an update to Android N:

  • Huawei P8, P9
  • Mate 8
  • Honor 5X

Just like Samsung, Huawei will probably get Android 7.0 updates in February 2017.

  • Xperia Z3+
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet
  • Xperia Z5, Compact, Premium

Users of these devices must be happy now. There is no confirm launch date of Nougat update officially announced yet, hopefully it’ll be around February-March 2017.

OnePlus 3 is also in line to be updated to Android Nougat sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2017. OnePlus has not announced when exactly we can expect to see new updates so we are not sure about the exact time-frame but they usually late with these software updates as couple months in beta, is finally receiving its official update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

If the things will go smooth then it will take them 2 to 3 months to update their devices to Android 7.0 right after Google launches Nougat i.e. December 2016-January 2017. Otherwise users will have to wait little longer maybe 6 to 8 months.

The NVIDIA Shield TV will be also received the Android 7.0 Nougat fairly quickly, but the Shield Tablet will take little longer.

Finally in the end we would like to add a piece of information regarding the durations, mentioned in this article are all based on previous records of OEMs rolling out software updates.
